Email Client Configuration
LightHouse Hosting has made available some important configuration instructions to help you configure your local Email client.
Generic notes for all Email clients:

All Email clients require you to enter the incoming (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) server. The example configuration screens contain generic mail server designations. For LightHouse Hosting's mail services always use the following information:

POP (incoming) Server: mailserver.lhhosting.com

SMTP (outgoing) Server: mailserver.lhhosting.com

Important note for outgoing (SMTP) mail configurations:

In order to send outgoing mail using LightHouse Hosting's SMTP service you must provide the server with authentication information. This information is passed along to the server by your mail client. The form of authentication is the account name (email address) and the password used to log on to your mail account when you read mail.

ALL Email clients must be configured to send this information to the server. Depending on your Email client you must locate the option to allow the client to send the authentication information. In most cases the option will say: "My Server Requires Authentication" which must be checked. Different mail clients may change the wording of this option but in all cases the client configuration will contain some option to allow for authentication.

Without the client set to authenticate you will receive an error message when you try to send out Email. For example, your error will probably say: "Error 550: Not a local host", or "No relay allowed".

Setting the authentication option may not always allow you to send mail using our mail servers.

Many ISP's, specifically dialup connections will not allow you to relay to another SMTP server to send your mail. To resolve this problem you need to contact your internet provider to obtain the proper SMTP server settings to use their SMTP server. This problem typically does not effect broadband users like Cable or DSL, and other high speed broadband internet connections.
